this is a new york hip hop video to promote the album the change up, which we recorded in 2006/07 and which I produced.
Steve Blanco (who also shot this one) from insomnia creations shot it on practically no budget and a timeframe that would make most moviepeople sick. thanks Steve!
this is a NYC hip hop promotion video of one of the artists on my label and who’s first album I produced back in 2006/07. we recorded at quad studios in new york with Eric Jensen. got many great beats from great people and made a lot of cool friends during the process.
besides being an artist and composer I (over the last couple of years) produced numerous soundscapes for europes biggest live tv event (15million viewers average) „wetten, dass…?“
it features german showmaster thomas gottschalk who guides through an elaborate show of celebrities, risky and funny games, and high impact showacts.
“…You need to have this CD. Very good music. Our listeners here on The Upper Room Radio Show really love it. This CD is a plus in our collection…” Gi Dussault Co-Host & Co-Producer Upper Room Radio Show
“…Hi Juergen, love the album “the change up”, hope to hear more of you in the near future!! My listeners are wild about it!!…” Paul van Kuik Radio 0162 – Dongen
in the summer of 2006 I went back to new york to produce „the change up“ for brooklyn rapper jus nyce. it’s said to be “…the ultimate urban real recognizes real brooklyn-bred hip hop experience”.
jus nyce "the change up"
we did the whole album from finding beats, producers to writing the songs to recording and producing the whole album in only 6 weeks! most artists take at least a year to complete one album.
it’s a good example of parkinson’s law: keep your timeline as short as possible to force yourself to concentrate on only the essentials and accomplish whatever you whish for in the most efficient manner and short amount of time!
“the change up” is the first album I released containing music I haven’t written and arranged myself. except for the song “can’t stop me”, all the material is by outside hiphop producers such as rsonist from the heatmakers, ray rosario, rick steel, dot silly and others.
we recorded the album (just as the single let’s get it on tonight) at quad studios with eric jensen, who works with busta rhymes and is one of the coolest, fastest and down to earth sound engineers I have ever encountered! I think without him we wouldn’t have been able to complete the recording in such a short amount of time.
the 2005/06 recording „let’s get it on tonight“ is my first collaboration with new york rapper jus nyce. it is being promoted during the soccer worldchampionship in germany in 2006 and receives about 59000 online hits.
let's get it on tonight
the site it was promoted at was called “wet-tshirt-worldcup” where you could let girls from various nations dance to the song, pour some water over their shirts and all that sort of fun.
the site is no longer online, though…
I recorded the song in a friend’s basement in brooklyn and for the vocals we went to famous quad studios on time square.
I did two versions of the song, each with different backing vocals. one version features dutch singer aafje, the other new york singer mia rebel who is crazy cool!
